BC Teachers' Federation
The BCTF offers a variety of SOGI education tools, resources and free workshops to teachers that aim to develop skills to interrupt, address, and challenge homophobia and transphobia within our classrooms and school communities.
Out in Schools
Out in Schools presentations and Learning Hub provide youth with opportunities not only to learn, but to do. The presentations offer a chance to build participation in and creation of Queer Straight Alliances across the province. The Rise Against Homophobia Video Contest offers youth the chance to make media as a vehicle not only for personal expression, but to shape more inclusive school communities.
QMUNITY – BC’s Queer Resource Centre
QMUNITY is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, BC, that works to improve queer and trans lives. They provide a safer space for LGBTQ/2S people and their allies to fully self-express while feeling welcome and included.
Egale Canada Human Rights Trust
Founded in 1995, Egale Canada Human Rights Trust is Canada’s only national charity promoting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans (LGBT) human rights through research, education and community engagement.
MyGSA.ca is Canada’s website for safer and inclusive schools for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) community.
Trans Care BC
The Trans Care BC program aims to enhance the coordination of trans health services and support across the province, bringing gender-affirming care closer to home wherever possible.
Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN)
The leading national US-based education organization focused on ensuring safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ students.
Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)
PFLAG Canada is a national charitable organization, founded by parents who wished to help themselves and their family members understand and accept their non-heterosexual children.
Pride Education Network
The Pride Education Network of teachers, administrators, support staff, youth and parents strives to make the BC school system more welcoming and equitable for LGBTQ students and staff, and queer families.
Gender Spectrum helps to create gender sensitive and inclusive environments for all children and teens.
Dancing to Eagle Spirit Society
The purpose of the Dancing to Eagle Spirit Society is to advance Native American healing and spiritual principles for aboriginal and non-aboriginal people who self identify as two spirit persons.
Canadian Olympic School Program
The One Team campaign promotes LGBTQ inclusion and respect in schools and sport throughout the country. One Team Safer School and Sport Environment Resources were developed in conjunction with Egale Canada Human Rights Trust and the You Can Play project.

Safe and Caring Schools for Two Spirit Youth
A comprehensive guide for teachers and students on Two Spirit people created by The Society for Safe & Caring Schools & Communities in Alberta. The information is Alberta-based, but provides ways to support Two Spirit youth in your school and community.

October 11 - National Coming Out Day
A day to celebrate coming out as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) or as an ally.
November 20 – Transgender Day of Remembrance
A day to memorialize those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia
December 1 – World AIDS Day
An opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died
January 16-20 – No Name Calling Week
A school-based campaign that aims to end name-calling once and for all
February 28 – Pink Shirt Day
A day that aims to raise awareness of bullying in our schools, workplaces, homes, and over the internet
April 12 – International Day of Pink
The International Day against Bullying, Discrimination, Homophobia, Transphobia, and Transmisogyny across the world
April 21 - Day of Silence
Every year, hundreds of thousands of students across the world take a vow of silence on a Friday in April to raise awareness about the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying, harassment and discrimination.
May 7 – International Family Equality Day
A day to celebrate supportive and diverse families
May 17 - International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia
A day that aims to draw the attention of policymakers, opinion leaders, social movements, the public and the media to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTI people internationally
