New Shorelines: SOGI 123 in Atlantic Canada
SOGI 123 has followed the sunrise all the way to the East Coast! With the addition of a dedicated SOGI 123 Lead – Atlantic Canada, we are now better equipped to support the diverse communities in this region. We have been working alongside community organizations in partnership, building relationships with educators, and establishing foundational efforts to build teacher capacity for years to come. Our work in Atlantic Canada also includes efforts to expand SOGI 123 offerings in French, with New Brunswick being an officially bilingual province. To better serve educator needs and reflect linguistic diversity, we recently hosted a very first bilingual SOGI 123 webinar, with both English and French interpretation.
Additionally, we’re proud to have launched a bilingual Educator Newsletter! This monthly newsletter already serves as a valuable tool, offering important updates and resources to the SOGI 123 Educator Network. Expanding this offering to include both English and French content will better meet the needs of SOGI Leads across the country.
As we continue providing support in Atlantic Canada, we’re focused on fostering strong connections with local community organizations. Through these partnerships, we aim to build upon our collective efforts and make a positive impact in communities across the country.
